Well put, Kevin. I know exactly what you mean, and am always trying to balance those perceived and not-quite-perceived moments with memory, expectation, etc. Part of the deal of being conscious beings, I guess. And just one more reason to get outside and lose our minds for a while.

The singular moment when we recognize the definitive change from one season to the next, has always been a moment I have recognized in retrospect… It is the rare day when I can see the transition in real time. But that is true of so many milestones in that I only see them after they have passed. I think that where I able to recognize such momentous events as they occurred, Jerry, it would only add to my chagrun in how how quickly they have come and gone.... And especially how close they are starting to run together.

Jerry,
Your exquisite words capture so much of what I sense, feel and observe when out on my many hikes here where I dwell in Leelanau County. Thank you for sharing your gift of words with the community. You paint a picture that I immediately see when my eyes move across the sentences in your blog.
Kindly,
Charlotte
