It reminded me of a simple poem I penned last winter here in Beulah.

A Cautious Eye

I strolled down my village’s
snow covered street

And noticed a coyote crossing
the frozen lake.

I watched cautiously his tip-
toeing ways

Hoping not to meet him on this
rather splendid day.
