What a wonderful way to take a break in my Michigan day :) Thank you for sharing this journal with us. I enjoyed it very much. While camping at Leelenau State Park this fall, we visited a used bookstore in Traverse City and we found a copy of "A Place On the Water". We gave it to our camp hosts who were from Alabama, but have been hosting in Michigan parks for a few years. Our copy of your book is in our camper and is a great read while vacating :) Thank you for writing.

Thanks Jerry -- Changing Environment was a big learning curve for me, but I was happy with how it turned out (academics and cats are not dissimilar). And don't forget the great Douglas Adams: "I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." Cheers

Thanks, Alan. I admit I still struggle with deadlines despite working very hard to eliminate all but the ultimate one from my life. As you've probably guessed, writing blog posts is one way to avoid facing them... Hope you're well. I was revisiting The Changing Environment of Northern Michigan just the other day and was reminded again what a fine book it is.

Jerry - such a delightful gift you've offered. It is a pleasure to stop my work life in front of two screens and one keyboard, the view outside of to six lane roads intersecting - and read this journal of those winter days on the lake.

thank you for sharing. hugs to Gail please.

Thanks for sharing the journal entries, Jerry. Always nice to see that even successful authors still struggle with deadlines (but you've solved that by now, right? * grin * ) And I remember that Dec '91 aurora -- it was equally stunning in Ann Arbor, and also looked like it was centered straight overhead.
