Alas, 40 years ago your customers probably thought independent stores would be around forever, so there was no hurry. Now we know you’re an endangered species — and we realize how much we would miss you if you went extinct. I know I’m not the only author who recognizes I owe my career to you guys.
By the way, I love your store! My wife and I stopped in last summer and bought an armload of books. We’ll be back next year.

Perhaps you could all live in my shop and take care of my customers . I love the long time customers who ask if they could please stay in the shop overnight and work for free. Where were they all 40 years ago when I had to pay for clerks ( not much ) but I did have to pay them .
