I was struck that the first negative review of the birds you cite came from Glen Ridge, NJ, as my son was born there (the year of the moon landing), and New Jersey was where I first became aware of starlings. The swooping flocks are lovely–however, I DO NOT LIKE THEM AT ALL! Very few living things I dislike, but starlings and box elder trees are high on the list.
